Professor Trinkle received his B.S. in Physics and Mathematics at Xavier University in 1996 and his Ph.D. in Physics from Ohio State University in 2003. He worked as a graduate research assistant at Los Alamos National Laboratory from 1998 to 2000. After working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Air Force Research Laboratory, he joined the faculty of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at UIUC in 2006. He received an NSF/CAREER Award in 2009.
